<title>Although we will always offer our telecommuting jobs database for free, it is not the best way to find work at home jobs</title>
					  <link>http://www.workaholics4hire.com/free-work-at-home-jobs-database</link>
<description>Let's face it. Finding a work at home job is one of the hardest things we've ever done! Everywhere you look, you see promises, promises, promises, and most of these promises fall short of reality. Work at home jobs databases, on first look, seem like a great way to find a work at home job. However, this is the least effective way to find a currently available position. (yes, even our own free telecommuting jobs database has many flaws) Reason #1 Jobs may already be filled before they show up in the database. These job listings are almost always found by researchers who search sites like Headhunter.net, Monster.com, etc. That means thousands of other people have already seen the ad before the job is posted in any work at home jobs database. Reason #2 The competition is fierce for any home based position that is posted anywhere on the web. Many times, when an employer posts a job listing publicly, they become inundated with resumes very quickly and good resumes get lost in the frenzy. Most clerical workers end up frustrated with the search because these types of jobs are harder to locate. Reason #3 Many positions are &#34;local only&#34; because many employers do not realize the advantages of telecommuting at a distance. They are thinking about &#34;control issues&#34; and having workers local for onsite meetings. In time this will change, but for now, it is a disadvantage to many. Reason #4 Many positions are severely outdated. The jobs you see listed online have often been listed for months...even years after the position was filled. The employers don't bother answering anymore, because they are sick of seeing resumes. Work at home job listings are usually 'fee based' (except for a handful which are free, including our own), and as such, are less likely to care whether or not a listing is valid. These 'fee based' sites are far more likely to want you to see hundreds or thousands of positions, whether or not those positions are current is irrelevant to them. Once they have your money, why would they be concerned about your satisfaction? Then what are the better ways of finding a work at home job? Negotiate with your current employer The best way to work at home in a full time, full pay, full benefits employment arrangement is to appeal to an employer you have already worked with. You'll need a properly organized telecommuting proposal. An excellent resource for providing telecommuting proposal templates and an amazing amount of information about how to approach your boss is WorkOptions.com. Contact local companies and market yourself Another terrific way to get a work at home job is to contact companies in your local area and market yourself. Make sure you have a wide selection of skills to draw from before you pick up that phone, so you will be able to draw in many types of projects. Set yourself up as an Independent Contractor, preferably with a business license. Make sure you are not asking too much Some of the biggest mistakes made by individuals who are looking for telecommuting work is to set their sights very high and expect that because they want a work at home job...one should be made available to them immediately, at the standard pay rate they once earned onsite. This is a very dangerous attitude to take, and one that may result in many years of unemployment. Increase your chances of employment Review your skills to see if you need to brush up on them to be more competitive. Take online courses in between jobs, and you will find you become more employable and skilled. Compare your expected rates with the rates most likely to be paid to you Submit your portfolio listing to be considered for subcontracts through Workaholics4Hire Communicate with other freelancers to see what is working for them Above all, don't give up hope. It takes time to build up your telecommuting career, but if you stick with it, you can't help but be successful.</description>
