Project Overview:
This Technical Writer position is integral to a data center consolidation effort that centers around virtualization utilizing VMWare, NetApp storage and Fujitsu/Siemens blade technologies.
The individuals need to be fairly technical and any relevant data center experience along with server consolidation/virtualization experience will be ideal.
This will be a virtual/telecommuting position.Position Overview:
The Technical Writer develops, refines, and maintains technical documentation for use by a technical audience to support IT service delivery and operations.
The Technical Writer works with managers, subject matter experts, process analysts, engineers, and project leaders to produce documentation (processes, procedures, flow charts, technical information, reports, etc.) for supporting IT network, server, application, and data center consolidation services.
- Develops, creates, and edits documentation around the ITIL model of service delivery, including but not limited to incident management procedures, configuration management specifications, network topology, and service request processes.
- Maintains the integrity of controlled documentation in the document repository by ensuring accuracy, standard up-to-date template usage, overall standard formatting, proper workflow approvals, and compliance with various outside auditing standards.
- Works with project teams preparing for new customer on-boarding and transitions by analyzing documentation needs and producing documentation for standard and customized services.
Requirements:
Proficient user of MS Office Professional, Visio, and Adobe pdf.
- Knowledge of network operations topology and server . Experienced at creating network drawings.
- Skilled at organizing and translating information into clear written documentation; understands how to present technical material to a variety of audiences.
- Excellent written communication skills, knowledge of English grammar, punctuation; familiarity with IT technical vocabulary.
- Works comfortably in a team environment and can manage work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Demonstrates attention to detail, good organizational skills, and effective time management.
- Experience with document management systems a plus.
- Associate's Degree in related discipline and 2 years relevant experience
Candidates will be expected to provide work samples.
