Date: 2008-10-02, 11:49AM CDTMedical publishing company is searching for a freelance developmental/substantive editor to analyze and provide direction on the organization and content of various book projects. Must have experience in developmental editing and medical publishing.
Responsibilities:
- Complete developmental editor duties for an entire book
- Edit chapters for style, tone, and organization; Ensure style and tone
are consistent throughout the book
- Ensure text appropriately addresses book and chapter topic
- Create and edit headings and subheadings; Insert heading tags
- Create tables and/or lists as necessary
- Check all in-text references against reference list, and vice versa
- Query contributing writers regarding missing, incomplete, irrelevant,
or out-of-date information
Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in medical publishing
- Bachelor’s degree
- Excellent writing, organizational and analytical skills
- Proven ability to meet deadlines; Good project management skills
