Part-Time Writing Positions Available

Part-Time Web Content Writer

You need consistent work, we need good quality writers. Let’s talk.

Here’s the plan: we’ll assign topics to write about, you’ll upload them, and then we’ll direct deposit money every two weeks. We're a laid back company, with consistent work, and our hours are as flexible as they come. If you like to work in the middle of the night, or early in the morning when no one’s awake, then this job is for you.
The Job

You'll be writing articles about, well, all kinds of things. Our sites mostly include content about subjects such as adult education, finance and home improvement services. The work is steady and consistent, you set the hours (as long as you reach 15 a week), and everybody is treated with respect.
The Gritty Details

Our writers work from home and create their own schedules. We know that “work from home” is usually a red flag for “scam,” but we're not a scam. We just can't afford to move all our writers to California. Of course, if your home isn't doing it for you, you can work from wherever you want: coffee shops, the local library, Aruba. You just need somewhere with an Internet connection and a place to sit and be comfortable. Once you've got those things, here's what we expect from you:

* You have to commit to 15 hours per week. That's how we keep things running—everybody pulls their weight.

* We can't pay writers enough to make them rich. But we do pay unfailingly for work done, every two weeks. Since we like to keep a good thing going when we have it, there is incentive for you to stick around. The longer you work for us, the more we’ll pay you:
o 0-3 Months: $8/hr (or prevailing minimum wage)

o 3-6 Months: $9/hr

o 6+ Months: $10/hr, with potential promotion to rank of editor

o Your hourly wage can move up faster than every three months. In other words, if you work 15 hours a week for 6 months, you’re guaranteed to move up to $10 an hour.

* We expect you to generate well-written, timely and informative content for our websites. Simple enough, right?

* You'll format articles using Wiki. If you don't know Wiki, we'll teach you.

* Here are our requirements for applicants:

o Some college experience in a relevant field, such as English or journalism. Freelance writing experience is preferred. SEO writing experience is preferred.

o This may sound obvious, but you need a basic understanding of the Internet.

o Please be a native English speaker. No joke.

o Naturally, you'll need strong writing, grammar and editing skills as well as the ability to write according to our style guide.

o Know what a deadline is. Love deadlines. Adore deadlines.

o Knowledge of AP style is a plus, but it's not required.

o Familiarity with Wiki formatting is also a plus.

o Finally, you have to be self-disciplined and able to work well from home. Or Aruba. Wherever. The main thing is, there's nobody looking over your shoulder, and if you can't handle this, we can't hire you. Also, you must be comfortable with both the pay we offer and the hours we require. If you have a problem with either of these, we're not a fit for you.

About Our Company

Our core business is creating themed directories on the Internet and promoting them using a variety of ethical Internet marketing tactics. That's right: ethical. Everything we put together is designed with a long-term outlook, and we take pride in the fact that we don't believe in spam, offensive banners, pop-ups or any of the other obnoxious stuff that can make using the Internet as frustrating as rush-hour traffic. Our content team—the writers—submit all of their work online through our Content Management System.
Location

Our primary office is located in Foster City, Calif., but our writers work from home. Or anywhere else they like.

Application Process

You've gotta live in the United States and be over the age of 21. If you're interested, please reply to [See URL below] with a short note about why you think you’re right for this position. Include your resume and two writing samples—preferably from other freelance work you’ve done, but any example of professional-quality writing works fine. If you’re selected for an interview, you’ll receive an email by October 7th. We'll train you the following week. Once you finish the training, you’ll be free to start working.

There you go—the ball’s in your court.
