I can't log in to the database.

That is most likely because you are attempting to access the database with an older link. Please click here and follow the link from that page.

I am trying to do a keyword search in the database. I keep getting an error message. Do I need to use the words "and" or "or" between keywords? I can't seem to find this information anywhere.

Just enter your keyword with commas to separate them.

What is the proper date format for the jobs database?

dd-mmm-yyyy ex. 25-Jul-2000

I applied for a job in the database and they asked for a fee. Is this endorsed by your site?

NO! NEVER PAY FOR A JOB! Our researchers are trained to be able to spot jobs listings that require fees. If a job is suspect the researcher will check it out personally. Even so, sometimes a job gets by us. The scammers are getting better and better at what they do, they change email addresses, change wording, and rename their silly ventures. If you happen to come across a job on our database that asks for a fee, please alert us promptly by emailing Support@workaholics4hire.com. We'll remove the post immediately.

I found a job I want to apply for, and it specifically asks not to send attachments. Do I need to have my resume in more than one format? I just usually forward it in Word.

Yes, you need to have a ASCII text resume for copy and paste purposes.

If you need assistance with preparing your resume for distribution, please access the Resume section for more information

How often is the database updated?

Our researchers are adding new jobs on a daily basis.

Listing only recently posted positions

We've discovered a few ways to make searching it a little easier. Many have asked about how to list only the recently posted positions, rather than the full list every time. Actually, there are a few ways to do this. After you log in, you will see the first screen of the database.

  • Database Main Page: Click this to get back to the main page of the Jobs Database.
  • Search View: Click this to use the search features of the database, as outlined below.
  • List All Jobs: Click this only if you want to view every job in the database. These are in chronological order with the newest jobs listed first. Job listings are split into 10 per page.

How to find only the records which were entered recently.

The Search View Screen...

Use the Search View screen to run a search on specific fields or run keyword searches. This is the way you find recent listings.

From the main menu (the screen that is displayed right after you log in to the database), click the Search View link.

The database Search View will be displayed, with a number of search options.

You can easily locate only the most recent positions by performing any of the following searches from the Search View screen.

Category Search...

Choose your favorite category from the drop down category list.

Then, before you press "Search", scroll down and use the Sort option and choose date...sort in descending order.

This way, the newest jobs in your chosen category will be first in the list. Do this for each category you want to search.

Status Search...

Choose the Available Now function from the drop down status list.

This will only list the jobs that have not been reported as filled.

Then, before you press "Search", use the Sort option and choose date...sort in descending order.

This way, the newest jobs will be first in the list. You can also use this to search through the older listings. We keep them in there until we hear from someone whether or not it has been filled. Some are ongoing positions, so just because they are older listings doesn't mean they are no longer available. See the section below on older listings.

Date Search...(not recommended) If you want to search all jobs posted on a certain date, you need to be aware of the date format needed. The database was built with the date in this format... 25-Jul-1999 ... and when you run a search by date, this is the format you need to use in your date search field. I personally do not recommend this, because you may miss jobs that were posted late at night after you went to bed...:-)

>Greater than...search... Each time you search the list, make a note of the last job number you viewed. (Internal ID number). Then, the next time you log in...Search by Internal ID number using a greater than range search...like this...

Let's say that yesterday, you were searching and the last job number you saw was 1165. Next time you log in, use the View option from the main menu and enter this (the "greater than" symbol) in the Internal ID field. >1165 Then click "Search" and you will see all jobs posted after Job #1165! You can also try a keyword search if that is better for you.

Printing Records.

The database does not support printing of the records, however, there are ways to keep a record of the information so you can reference it later. use Copy on all the fields in the record you want to save for later and Paste it into Windows Wordpad, Notepad or any other Word processing software you like! For people who don't know how to do this... This is how I suggest it...

  1. Select the text you want to copy from the form using your mouse. Drag your mouse (holding down on the left click) and select all the text you want to save.
  2. Select Ctrl key and the letter C simultaneously. This will copy the text into the Windows clipboard
  3. Place your cursor into the document where you want to insert the text
  4. Select Ctrl key and the letter V simultaneously. This will paste the copied text into the document.

Local Only Positions

Please remember that many employers are still not ready to accept that telecommuters at a great distance are just as able to handle projects as people who are able to drop into the office on occasion. For this reason, you may find that some positions, particularly clerical positions, are defined as Local Only. We have added a Location field to the database, due to popular request. Use the search screen to choose two locations each and every time you search. Run a search on "Telecommute from Anywhere" and then run a search again using the Location drop down field and choose your State/Province location.

Older Listings.

Our jobs database is only as good as you make it. We do not remove listings unless we are sure, based on employer or member feedback, that the position has been filled. If you don't tell us that the position is filled, how will we know? We are too busy finding jobs for you to apply to, for us to spend time job hunting ourselves.

So, we ask that as you apply for positions, please let us know when you hear back from an employer that the job has been filled. We can then update the listing accordingly. We have added a new "Status" choice to the Status list, which has the following choices available...Available Now, Position Filled, Ongoing Need, Warnings See Notes, and we have added this choice to the list to assist you with your search..."Older Listing". This way, when you search for positions using only the "Available Now" search, you will be presented with listings that have been submitted only within the last 45 days, rather than all positions in the database.

Technical Problems: Troubleshooting

Some of you have problems because you use the AOL browser. AOL is fine as an ISP, but we do not recommend it for browsing, It seems to have problems processing forms...and the database is a large series of forms. Try using Internet Explorer or Netscape instead.

If you try to click the job link from the List view and nothing happens, it is most likely because you did not allow the first search results screen to load completely. Go back, hit "Refresh" and try again.

IF ALL ELSE FAILS...RESTART! Your RAM memory may be cluttered and you may need to restart your system.

If none of the above suggestions work, please send an email to our Technical Support department and we will assist you.
